The US Forest Service manages the nation’s forests and rangelands for a wide range of social and environmental beneï¬ ts. The Agency extends these practices to promote sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation worldwide. The Forest Service and Chinese counterparts have a long history of cooperation due to shared biophysical characteristics. Northeast China’s forests are similar to those in the Paciï¬c Northwest of the United States, while Southwest China’s forests closely resemble those in the Western and Northeastern regions. Both countries have signiï¬cant conifer and mixed hardwood forest types, sharing any of the same tree genera. The similarities have fostered a unique cooperation between the countries to achieve sustainable management.(source background).
