The Wildland Fire Assessment System (WFAS) is a USDA Forest Service, Fire and Aviation Management-supported system that was developed by Forest Service fire behavior researchers as an avenue to increase the utility of remote sensing and spatial data in fire management. It is an integrated, web-based resource to support fire management decisions. It provides multi-temporal and multi-spatial views of fire weather and fire potential, including fuel moistures and fire danger classes from the US National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS), Keetch-Byram and Palmer drought indices, lower atmospheric stability and satellite-derived vegetation conditions. It also provides access to fire potential forecasts from 24 hours to 7 days.

Climate Data Online

The National Centers for Environmental Incormation National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Data Online (CDO) provides free access to NCDC's archive of global historical weather and climate data in addition to station history information. These data include quality controlled daily, monthly, seasonal, and yearly measurements of temperature, precipitation, wind, and degree days as well as radar data and 30-year Climate Normals. Customers can also order most of these data as certified hard copies for legal use. In addition to datasets, users can access tools for searching and mapping data.

National Weather Service precipitation outlook tools

The National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center provides access to predictions aof temperature and precipitation for the coming 6-10 day, 8-14 day, 3-4 week, one-month, three-month periods. It also provides 8-14 day hazard outlooks, drought information, and Global tropics hazards outlooks. See information about various climate and weather patters, find expert assessments, and view monitoring data on a variety of topics.

California Rapid Assessment Method

The California Rapid Assessment Method (CRAM) is a cost-effective and scientifically defensible rapid assessment method for monitoring the conditions of wetlands throughout California. It is designed for assessing ambient conditions within watersheds, regions, and throughout the State. It can also be used to assess the performance of compensatory mitigation projects and restoration projects. Using CRAM, a team of 2-3 trained practitioners can assess a representative wetlad area in less than 3 hours.

USGS Stream Flow Mapping Tool

StreamStats is a Web-based Geographic Information Systems (GIS) application that provides users with access to an assortment of analytical tools that are useful for a variety of water-resources planning and management purposes, and for engineering and design purposes. StreamStats users can select United States Geological Survey (USGS) data-collection station locations shown on a map and obtain previously published information for the stations. Users also can select any location along a stream and obtain the drainage-basin boundary, basin characteristics, and estimates of streamflow statistics for the location. The streamflow statistics that StreamStats can provide for data-collection stations and for user-selected ungaged sites vary among the implemented states and among data-collection stations within states. The StreamStats home page provides links to a more detailed description of the program, a user's manual, descriptions of the outputs, definitions of basin characteristics and streamflow statistics, limitations for use of the application, and other information. The user's manual also can be accessed by clicking on the Help link on the user interface. Users should read the user's manual before attempting to use the application.

iBiocontrol

iBiocontrol is a repository of informatoin on biological control (biocontrol) of undesirable plant species (weeds). Biological control reunites host-specific natural enemies from a weed's native range with the target weed. Search by host, state, publisher, or agent to find resources to help with implementation of biocontrol efforts. iBiocontrol also contains mobile applications for recording and monitoring data that use survey 123. Find distribution maps of biological control agents, and search catalogs of biocontrol agents and their target weeds.

Trends.Earth: Tracking Land Change

Trends.Earth is a free and open source tool to understand land change: the how and why behind changes on the ground. Trends.Earth allows users to draw on the best available information from across a range of sources - from globally available data to customized local maps. A broad range of users are applying Trends.Earth for projects ranging from planning and monitoring restoration efforts, to tracking urbanization, to developing official national reports for submission to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
