In recent years, the regional environment ministry, conscious of the tremendous economic, social and environmental importance of the pastures of Andalusia, has stimulated a series of projects for the planning of pasture in different regions, concerning different habitats. This is important when ancient cattle use, sometimes in decline, and hunting on the summits coexist. This is the case in the Filabres massif, a damaged environment where land use has been more oriented towards hunting. In these types of deteriorated zones the application of science, such as phytosociology, can be a useful tool in helping us to obtain information. This study concerns the characterization of the vegetation, the type of existing pastures and their most suitable uses.
