Body
Although ecological, economic and social conditions vary from country to country, the quandary of increasing pressure on limited tropical savanna resources is universal. This article reviews some of the characteristics of tropical savannas, competing land uses, and the effects of some of the land use decisions. It examines the potential role of science in improving the quality of land use policy formulation and implementation, particularly in the areas of land use allocation and management.
