Body
Trials were conducted where ground material of Tarchonanthus camphoratus, Grewia flava and Terminalia sericea, supplemented with molasses and in some treatments with maize meal and/or urea, were fed to Afrikaner cows. Digestibility studies on Tarchonanthus camphoratus and Grewia flava plus molasses were conducted with sheep. Ground woody plant roughage offers a possible source of bulk for cattle when other roughage is scarce or expensive. This may prove to be a dependable source of roughage during protracted droughts.
