A map of the Republic of South Africa is presented in which the area is sub?divided into regions, zones and grassland?use units on the basis of the suitability for various intensities of grassland farming. Twelve percent of the area is classified as suitable for veld replacement, 23% as suitable for veld reinforcement and the remaining 65% as suitable for improvement only through veld management.
