The beef production potential of Desmodium intortum cv. Greenleaf pasture is extremely promising. Friesland type steers grazing on pastures in the Komga district had an average daily gain of 0,91 kg. During the five year period of the investigation an average livemass gain of 544 kg/ha was recorded. The gross margin/ha calculated on current income and expenditure data is approximately R172/ha.
