The dry grass?bush communities of the Eastern Cape are a comprehensive source of forage. The performances of beef cattle and boer goats in these communities are discussed. The Boer Goat, on account of its high fecundity and growth rate, outproduces beef cattle and sheep in terms of red meat. Boer Goats are more remunerative than beef cattle or sheep.
