An easily readable and coherent account, this book has a definite role on the shelf (and its outline content in the minds) of conservation decision-makers and advisors. When I started out as an ecological datametrician of sorts two decades ago, I wish I then had an overview along the lines of this book. Perhaps part of the issue then was that the subject per se had not been clearly defined conceptually. Even though its scope is better known today, in my view this book has a particular niche and a specific approach, topics which deserve further unpacking.
