In 1952 Don Rowley purchased the Rancho Seco from Peggy and Jack Rubel, establishing the Carrow Cattle Company several years later after acquiring additional parcels. After his death, his sons sold a large part of the property to Pima County as part of the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan.
