Body
Early in 1896 the owners of the Montana Mine requested the contruction or repair of a road over which they could haul ore. This led Pima County to declare the road from Amado to Oro Blanco a County Road and they began plans to survey and mantain the road. In the following years, the growing needs of the mining and ranching communities combined with pressure to bulid roads suitable for automobile travel and led to an era of road building.
