Barbara Stockwell first visited Arivaca on the 4th of July, 1957. Her parents had moved there to open a cafe, and soon they introduced her to the man who would shortly become her husband, Edwin S. Stockwell. Barbara graduated from the University of Arizona and became a teacher. She was an active member of the community throughout her life, volunteering with 4-H as well as other organizations, and continues to be involved in all sorts of community projects to this day.
