Biological invasion refers to the process by which a new species enters a native biological community, reproduces, and displaces native species. Bothriochloa ischaemum, is an invasive warm-season perennial grass of Eurasian origin that is a threat to native prairies of the southern and central Great Plains. B. ischaemum is functionally similar to dominant native warm-season grasses Andropogon gerardii and Schizachyrium scoparium. One potential mechanism for B. ischaemum
