Designated by the Arizona Desert Wilderness Act of 1990, the Baboquivari Peak Wilderness and Coyote Mountains Wilderness areas total 7,145 acres and are located approximately 40 miles southwest of metropolitan Tucson in Pima County, Arizona.
The plan provides management objectives and actions for protecting and enhancing wilderness resources during the next 10 years. It also addresses the types and levels of uses to be allowed as intended by Congress. A schedule for implementing these management actions and evaluating their effectiveness is included in the plan. An Environmental Asessment (EA) has also been prepared to evaluate the environmental effects of the management actions proposed in the plan. The BLM anticipates no significant impact will occur as a result of implementing the plan and has prepared a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) as a part of the environemental documentation.
