Body

Bradford et al. concluded that certain bird species can serve as indicators of extreme changes in rangeland condition. This in turn can be used to test the biological integrity of habitat that has been affected by cultivation, burning or grazing. But they felt that birds were quite limited in assessing moderate and light disturbances. Overall, the use of bird assemblages as indicators of biological integrity may not be the recommended option.
