Fire and grazing in a shrub-invaded arid grassland community: Independent or interactive ecological effects?
Author
Valone, T. J., D. A. Kelt
Publication Year
1969
Body

Valone and Kelt compared the effects of burning and grazing on summer and winter annuals and perennials, with regard to individual abundance, species richness, and diversity. On the grazed treatments, 2 species differed significantly in abundance across the grazing treatment; with G. sarothae was more common on grazed plots. Most species were affected either by burning or by grazing. These results indicate that burning and grazing disturbance effects are independent of each other in this plant community.
