First described in 1803 as a species of Chloris, sideoats grama has been given 18 scientific names (Latin binomials) and 10 common names. The valid name combination, Bouteloua curtipendula, was published by Torrey in 1848. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries.
