Mima mounds are found in many areas west of the Mississippi River. The polygenetic origin of mounds in different areas is commonly accepted. The formation of these mounds in the Blackland Prairie may be associated with past climatic changes in the area, and resultant erosion and vegetational changes. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries.
