Removal of overstory canopy of American elm (Ulmus americana) greatly increased the utilization of understory herbaceous vegetation by cattle. Cattle browsing killed all the elm sprouts. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries.
