Body

Observations of mourning doves (Zenaida macroura) were similar in grassland, shrub-grass, and shrubland communities. Overall vegetative cover, including the main mourning dove food leatherleaf croton (Croton pottsii), was similar for mid-seral and late-seral study sites. This study suggests maintaining both mid-seral and late-seral stages for mourning dove food and cover.
