In addition to growing timber, pine-hardwood forests of the South produce food for white-tailed deer. The food yields, and thus deer populations, are governed by timber stand density, frequency of timber cuttings, size and distribution of harvest cutting units, and application of prescribed burning. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries.
